'cause that's, uh, you know, that's how we earn a living. So, um, but let's get into all the info. So again, we're talking about what is crucial to know about raising a family here in Temecula. I had mentioned it a little bit in the intro, but basically I have lived here in the Valley for quite a long time.
I lived here in the city of Temecula, Murrieta. And Winchester actually, I went, I went to high school out here. It's been, you know, 20 plus years. And this is where we plan to stay long-term with our kids and our family. So, you know, obviously we have roots that we've developed here. I think it's a fantastic area to raise your family and I think it's really.
Hard to find. I can't think of a better place to raise your family anywhere in the US. So obviously I'm a Southern California boy. This is really, really what I know, but I think it's such a great blend of, um, all, all the cool stuff that Southern California has to offer. You know, being relatively affordable and all these other things that I'll highlight as we're, as we're going through.
I think it's a really, really great place to be. So, um, with, I guess I have a little bit of a clouded lens of POS positivity, but I, I do think it's a great place. I'll kind of go through my list. I have seven points that I want to go over with you and the kind of things that I think make raising a family in Temecula such a great thing and such, such a good decision to be able to be able to do.
So. We'll start here with, uh, with number one. So, uh, number one, and I think really the, The biggest draw for people, you know, for clients that are relocating here to the area and why they wanna stay here in Temecula or make a move here to Temecula as opposed to other parts of Southern California is the public school system.
So the schools here in Temecula and Temecula, Temecula Valley Unified School District, and that even applies to some of the surrounding cities as well, like Murrieta, especially. But the public school system here is really, really highly rated. It's a great public school system, uh, from elementary schools to middle schools to high schools.
Uh, pretty much across the board. Schools are anywhere from seven outta 10, eight outta 10, nine outta 10, all the way up to 10, outta 10 ratings. Um, and really. All just about any school that's in the district is gonna have a really, really great rating and it's gonna be a good place to be. So they win all types of awards, all that type of stuff.
But as far as being in Southern California, being in a good school district, you really are not gonna find anything better than the city of Temecula. Um, not only that, if you are more interested in more of a private school option, uh, there are three different really, really highly rated private schools.
They're a little bit more, you know, religion based. So from, there's, from a private Catholic school to a coup couple private Christian schools. Um, so that's something you're, you're interested in. You know, those could be really good options as well. Obviously they're private, so you're gonna be, you know, you're gonna pay, be paying for that.
But, um, there are some really good options for, for, in that, in that direction. That's more of interest to you. So that's, that's number one. Alright, so number two is all about safety. So Temecula is constantly rated as one of the safest cities in the nation, not even just state of California, you know, throughout the nation.
Uh, the last stats that I show and, and one of the studies that they put out there is that Temecula is ranked as the 15th safest, safest city in the US. In 2024. So it's constantly, somewhere in the top 100. Um, it's a very, very safe area. There's a very, very heavy, uh, police presence, you know, the, uh, Riverside County Sheriff presence and there is a huge military presence here.
We are part of Southern California. Obviously we're very close to, I think it's five different military bases, uh, that are very, very close by. So. All those things being said, it tends to be, it's a very, very safe area, wins all types of safety awards and constantly rated very, very high in the safety rating.
Thanks. Alright, so the third thing that I wanted to mention was about housing affordability. Um, so where, where we're located, you know, in Southern California, we are in southwest Riverside County. So directly south to us becomes San Diego County. Over to the west is Orange County, and then up to the northwest is LA County.
And those other counties are definitely quite a bit more expensive. So when you compare it to other parts of Southern California. The pricing here in Temecula is actually really, really affordable for Southern California. So for example, your average home in San Diego or in Orange County is now over a million dollars.
And really what you get for that million dollar home is probably something that was built back in the sixties, back in the seventies. It's probably 1200, 1300 square feet. It's probably not located in that great of an area, right? Maybe not the safest of areas. Probably not any type of a, a great school district or any, or anything like that, as opposed to now in the city of Temecula, the average home is about $850,000.
So, which is honestly, it's kind of crazy for me just even to say that, right? Just how expensive things have gotten. But I guess that's just the world, you know, the world, the world that we're in. So the average home is about $850,000 in Temecula. Um, you can find homes starting somewhere in the mid to high $600,000.
So there definitely are more affordable options out there. Although you will definitely find many large tract homes that maybe have a pool or something fancy like that, that are north of a million, you know, so, uh, there's definitely a pretty good spread there. But if you just take that average home, that 850,000 home, and you compare that to what you can get for north of a million in say, San Diego.
That $850,000 home in Temecula is gonna be, you know, so much more grand. You're gonna get so much more for your money. Um, that $850,000 home is probably about 3000 square feet. Um, it's located in a great school district. It was probably built somewhere in like 2000, 2002, 2003. So it's much newer construction.
You don't have to worry about like old crummy roofs. You don't have to worry about old plumbing, all old electrical, all, all these different like real challenges that you might have when these, in these older homes, right. So you can just get so much for your money and you know, compared to what you can get that that's more expensive in say, San Diego or Orange County.
Alright, so the fourth thing to mention is all about the community. Uh, so the overall community in Temecula I think is a, is a really, really great community. Um, but not only if you know, just as far as you know, how people treat you and you know how much eye contact you're gonna have and how people are gonna open the door and whatnot.
I think it has a lot more of a smaller town feel than other parts of Southern California. Um, but. Really for the area because it's so new, right? Because it was, most of this area was built anywhere from like the mid nineties to mid two thousands. So it's a newer construction area, uh, because there is such a safety presence or it's, it's such a, um, such a police presence and a military presence really.
This area is. Such a squeaky clean suburb. I mean, it's definitely more of a, you know, suburban community, but it's so squeaky clean, it's so safe, it's so well taken care of, uh, that it's just a, it's a really, really nice place to be able to walk around. A really nice place to be able to live. Um, and then not only that, just our overall location and kind of where we're positioned.
We're still here in Southern California, and you're only about an hour away from all the other cool stuff that Southern California has to offer. So you're about 45 minutes or an hour away from the beach. You're about 45 minutes or an hour away from downtown San Diego and all the different, you know, concerts and events and nightlife and stuff that's out there.
Um, you're about 45 minutes to an hour away to most parts of Orange County, including Disneyland. Uh, you're about an hour or so away from the desert. Uh, you're closer to about an hour and a half to two hours away, for most part, to LA and probably about two hours or so away from the mountains, um, from our closest mountain range.
So you still have a really, really central location here in Southern California, and you can easily take day trips to all the other cool stuff that Southern California has to offer. Alright. And then number five are the community parks. So it's kind of ties into the overall community here in Temecula, but uh, the community parks here I think are, is a really cool feature that they have here locally for families especially.
So there's actually over 50 different Public parks that are here in Temecula. Um, so those are from, you know, small little kind of tot lots to, you know, large grass areas all the way up to several big, huge sports parks with, you know, baseball fields and turf soccer fields and all, all, all types of big sports complexes basically.
So there's a, there's really a big spread that's there. Um, but because the city has done such a good job. Making sure the builders have to incorporate those when they're building their communities. Um, there's over 50 of them now, which I think is a big plus for any of the families that are out there.
Alright. And then number six on my list. And it kind of ties into all the parks that are out there, but when you have all those parks, you know, dozens and dozens of parks that are out there, uh, kind of coupling with that is there's a ton of sports leagues that are here in, in town as well. So, uh, there's. A couple different baseball leagues.
There's softball leagues, there's a couple football leagues in flag football leagues. There's a couple soccer leagues. Uh, plus there's all types of different private, you know, club teams that are out there as well. And I, I think for anybody that ha has a, you know, that's raising a family. This is kind of the, I think it's a big plus, right?
And this is kind of the age that my kids are in, where you're in all the different club activities and kind of keep us busy year round. And I, I think it's really nice because it's a great way to obviously meet other people, to meet other families. And it's nice that there are such, such an abundance of different leagues that are out there and teams and options that gives plenty of opportunity for all the kids to play and be able to, to meet all types of different people that are gonna live here in the area.
All right, so number seven. And the last thing for me to mention on my list is the traffic. Uh, this is probably the only con that I have here, here on my list. But if you're raising a family here, right. Uh, I would say probably one of the biggest downsides here in Temecula is. If you are not working remotely from home, there's not a ton of job opportunity locally.
So there's, you know, there's a ton of like hospitals and medical, and, you know, shopping centers and restaurants and all that type of stuff. But there isn't necessarily like a ton of like, big employers, right? There's not these big tech employers or big manufacturers or anything like that. So because of that.
Temecula tends to be a big time bedroom community. A lot of people tend to live here and then make a commute out for work. Um, their, their commutes are gonna have a good amount of traffic. The freeways gets pretty, gets pretty jammed up. Um, the average commute, they say about 45 out 45 minutes. I. Um, I definitely know several people or a good amount of people that have a commute time of over an hour each way, and they can get up to almost an hour and a half depending on exactly how far, how far it is you're driving.
So, um, that is something to know and, you know, if you are gonna be moving here, think about, you know, what the job situation's gonna be if you're lucky enough to be able to work remotely and not have to jump in the car. You. That's gonna be a big, big plus. That's, that would probably take away the biggest pain point about living here in Temecula.
If you are gonna be commuting, just to make sure you know, you're doing your, you know, Google map calculations and looking at the drive time. Make sure you're setting that to, to rush hour and kind of when your normal commute time would be. Um, because it can make a big difference. You know, you can, you're.
A 35 minute drive can definitely change to an hour and 15 just depending on what time of the day that you're making the commute. So, um, that's a big thing for people. And if you are gonna be commuting, that probably will affect what part of the city you're gonna wanna live in to be able to be closer to the freeway, to be, you know, closer, say south if you're commuting south, to make for a shorter commute, et cetera.
So those are important things to know. So. Anyways. I hope that's good information for you guys. Um, again, I think raising a family here in Temecula is a great place to do so. Um, it's where I plan to stay long term with my family. I think it's really, it's a hard combination to beat, especially anywhere in Southern California.
Um, hopefully it's good information. If you have questions, you can feel free to reach out. You can call, you can text, you can email me, and hopefully I will talk to you soon. Thanks.
